I bought this roaster because I needed something to bake sourdough boules and other loaves in. When my wife saw it, she commented on how nice it looked. I am using it to put a 1.25 lb loaf pan in to contain the bread for a steam environment, and it fits really well. I almost ordered the 1.5 lb loaf pan, and think it would probably be too big for this pan to allow enough head space.
It is quite heavy, but that is to be expected. So far, it has been a really good purchase.

Good quality, heavy duty. My first use was using the lid as a griddle to bake some stuff at a fairly high temperature. Worked well, but in dealing with a bit of burnt-on residue with a plastic scrubber, not bearing down particularly hard, the seasoning rubbed off, exposing bare metal. Re-seasoned the lid & roaster. It’s performed well since. I couldn’t be happier with its performance once it was properly seasoned.

I thought this was going to be a Dutch oven for sourdough and it’s very heavy and very big for like ribs or something so it didn’t work out for what I needed it for

I wanted an oblong cast iron pan for baking batard sourdough bread loafs. This was perfect.
While it arrived pre-seasoned I did apply a seasoning blend of beeswax, flaxseed oil and coconut oil. It seasoned perfectly. I baked my first loaf this morning and I’m thrilled with the results.
This will also work wonderfully for making roasts. The cover fits very well on my cast stove to use as a griddle.
It’s a very versatile cast iron piece that will last generations. Worth the investment as this piece is very reasonably priced.
Like all good cast iron pieces, this is heavy.

I’ve been using it to make my homemade bread and it works great. Great heat distribution throughout and bakes my bread evenly.

I got this to use as a bead cloche for one, and it was on sale for 54 bucks too..
My fix
So, the handles are close and identical for the bottom and top making it about impossible to lift the lid when hot while wearing oven mitts..my fix was as pictured, get a larger Weber drip pad (I guess a disposable aluminum serving try or any aluminum drip pan will do, they are much thicker then aluminum foil., cut a long strip, flatten it and fold it over from the side three times like a long burrito(try to make it so it’s just as wide as in inside of the Dutch oven handle) thread it into the handle you want to lift, use pliers to roll it up tight (make it like a cannoli or cinnamon roll like pictured, and walla an easy lift lid…my lid is actually the bottom of the Dutch oven (cloche). The Dutch oven will shut fine, it was tested in a 500 degree oven and held up great.
After the fix it works fine…great for bread baking, and cheap too. I can’t afford the 300 buck challenger bread cloche.
Ocer all this Dutch oven looks well made, did fine after seasoning…if you don’t know how to season cast iron look it up…(it’s iron it will rust if you don’t treat it well) I own like 100 or more cast iron pans/pots I refurbish them so this one will do perfect for me….makes great sour dough bread.

Well boxed and shipped. Solid construction. Well and evenly coated. I look forward to using it both out inside and outside kitchens. My beautiful wife has been learning and practicing bread baking and looks forward to using it for her artisan breads!

Great especially for frying fish because of the size. I don’t have to worry about ends sticking out of the skillet.
