We have a solar system in our truck camping setup. This was a great addition and allows me to heat up my morning coffee without breaking out the burners. Big bonus! Soups and chilli also no problem. Still use the propane for larger dinners. 3-5 mins to boil and is comfortable to hold when hot!

As an Englishman, nothing is better than a nice cup of tea when I travel – it certainly beats hotel “brown liquid” available in the rooms. After buying an Amazon kettle (nice but a little large and I was worried about it being crushed in my luggage) and then a collapsible silicone kettle (small but the silicone leaves a taste in the boiled water), I finally settled on the Stoke Voltaics Electric Kettle.

First impression on unboxing is the quality construction of the kettle with a solid stainless steel boiling chamber – no fear of crushing this one. I have now taken it on several multi-day, multi-location trips and the kettle looks as good as new – no dents and the boiling chamber is still round. As for boiling water, it does a great job. It boils a max of 16 oz of water in approximately 5 minutes, automatically shuts off, and does not leave any chemical taste in the water. Perfect for a great mug of tea!

While I would like the plastic lid to fit a little better (and be a little more solid?), and it does take a few attempts to get used to pouring with the strap handle, this kettle has quickly become a “must pack” when I travel. Highly recommended.

It’s the right size and wattage for my needs. But the lid doesn’t fit right, it won’t stay on because of a little manufacturing flaw ( no clips or anything to keep the lid in place).
The trim on the button and switch assembly came off after a couple weeks on the road but it still works.

The water boils quickly, but the lid is terrible and the coffee press concept is an epic fail. Pouring coffee is a mess! For starters, the lid leaks when pouring and won’t seal tight. Add that the press plunger is sticking out of the top and flapping around and needs stabilized. The handle is made of cloth and not stable. With all of these combined issues a good portion of the coffee and grounds pour out along the side of the unsealed lid.
As far as coffee goes, what’s left of it does not taste that great because the plunger does not create a tight seal. The plunger also does not fit down inside the kettle for travel. It seems like someone measured the kettle height and determined the plunger “pole” length, forgetting that nearly one third of the “kettle” height does not store water, but contains the heating element of the unit. (Sigh)

Edit: I’m updating my review to 4 stars. The company reached out to me immediately to send another unit for review. Very good customer service, which means something. This one seems to have a tighter lid and boils fast. I still don’t think I would recommend as a coffee press though. The seals are not tight enough and it’s awkward to pour with the plunger engaged. Grade “A” for kettle. Grade “C” for coffee press.

So I do allot of Overlanding. So convenience is a key factor for camping. I have a Jetboil which is great but the down side is having to carry propane bottles. This electric kettle is hands down the game changer for me. It heats up and boils water quick and I love the auto shut off feature once it’s reached its maximum temperature.
This thing is no taller than a bottled water and every bit convenient for soups, tea and popcorn. The interior cup has a labeled measurements.
My only gripe about this kettle is that for the first week of testing it out, is that the metal at the bottom of the cup developed some form ionized spotting. (See photo & no its not mold) I only used filtered bottled water and tried to scrub that spotting out.
Either way that’s my only dislike and beyond that it doesn’t affect its functionality. I’ve even considered buying one for work just because it’s soo convenient.
At the time I purchased this it was $79 which is a great deal. The quality of this product isn’t cheap and IT IS well made. Highly recommend for those who travel/ camp. When were not camping, this thing is beside the coffee maker since we like to make tea.

Was wanting to get a portable way to boil water on the road and camping without using a ‘flame or fuel’ type set up. Something I could use ‘in the car’ as opposed to a fuel-powered jetboil system.

1st one arrived and unfortunately the slide switch was very loose, sloppy and didn’t feel like it engaged into any detent to set it at the correct setting. Customer service was excellent. And a return was arranged and I had a new unit within 2 days.

New units slide switch had POSITIVE engagement and felt like it stopped at the correct detents for each setting.

Plugged it in to home socket to boil water. Put in water and waited, Attempting to time when the water would begin to boil and then come to a rapid boil to see if it matched claims made by manufacturer.

At first it didn’t seem to be as fast as claimed, then I realized I didn’t put lid on. At 3 min mark with slight boiling beginning I put lid on and less than 90 sec9nds later, it was a hot rolling boil. And water was HOT. Would definitely make quick work of putting together a cup of coffee or adding it to a dehydrated meal.

I then tried a second time but this time I used my portable ‘Jackery style’ battery. Yes, it does draw quite a bit of electrical power. But the speed at which it boils water is well worth it. Plus my battery is linked to a Solar System. That is always trickle charging, so it is not that much of a concern.

    This thing just WORKS.

It’s a great compliment to any type of camping or on the road set up you have so that you can get yourself a cup of coffee or heat yourself a meal while you’re on the road.

    Just buy it, it works
