Love love my Hawkins. This is my 4th Hawkins and the classic remains my favorite model from the pressure cooker range from the brand.

Works great on an electric stove. Food is cooked properly and is very easy to clean. I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a durable cooker. The size of the cooker is perfect to cook food for 5-6 people. The only thing I didn’t like is the price point, but there are not many options available.

  3. Roger G.

It shows to be what I was expecting: solid, robust, handy, simple to use. I am happy.

  4. Trendygirl

    Product works well.

  5. Thrust

    Pretty good cooker.

Metal walls have thinned over the years.
The finish is prone to scars from boiling water.

First few weeks, the color will slowly tarnish on the inside.

    But this is expected

The Hawkins pressure cookers are excellent. I find I use my stovetop pressure cooker more than my instant pot for short pressure cook times (0 – 10min). The stovetop cooker comes to pressure much faster, cooks at higher pressure (15psi), and you can simply put it in the sink if you want a quick release. Advantage of putting in sink is no steamy mess or frothing. Also, you save a bunch of time not having to wait 10-20min for natural release. Just pop in sink and run water on it. Stovetop pressure cooker great for making pasta in pressure cooker–no frothy mess and don’t have to wait for natural release as pasta gets overcooked. In addition, pot-in-pot cooking works great in the 5L Hawkins. My 3QT instant pot separators, pot-in-pot, accessories, etc, all fit in the 5L Hawkins. Pot-in-pot meals are very easy in the Hawkins and no mess since just need water. Much faster than instant pot since Hawkins comes to pressure faster, pop in sink for fast natural release, and pull out yummy food in separators . . . . Recommend the Hawkins for all short pressure cook meals, reheating food, quick pot-in-pot, and pasta. Use the instant pot for really messy recipes or long cook pressure cook time recipes . . . .

I recently purchased a Hawkins Pressure Cooker and was gravely disappointed to find that it arrived with a broken handle. This is a concerning lapse in quality control from a brand I had held in high regard. As someone conscious of my carbon footprint, I find it wasteful to return the item. To address this issue and make me a satisfied customer, I would expect at least a 50% partial refund on my purchase. The current state of the product seriously undermines its functionality and my trust in the brand. I hope this review serves as a cautionary tale for prospective buyers.
